World Meteorological Organisation
WMO is a specialist organisation of the United Nations, based in Geneva. It coordinates global scientific activity in areas of weather prediction, air pollution research, climate change, ozone layer depletion studies and tropical storm forecasting, to allow prompt and accurate weather information for public, private and commercial use, including international airline and shipping industries. Major WMO progammes include World Weather Watch, Applications of Meteorology, World Climate Research, Global Climate Observing System, Atmospheric Research and Environment, Hydrology and Water Resources, Education and Training.
