America's First Look into the Camera
A collection of 600 daguerreotype photographs, mainly portraits by the Mathew Brady Studio, but also early architectural views by John Plumbe. Part of the Library of Congress American Memory collections, this resource provides access to a database of these images, searchable by keyword or browsable by subject. It provides information on the daguerreotype as a medium, photographers in the collection, a glossary, a timeline of the Daguerreian era and a bibliography.

Bear In Mind: The California Grizzly at the Bancroft Library
The story of the eradication of the California Grizzly and its reinvention as the proud emblem of California, this virtual exhibit offers digital reproductions of rare and unique materials which were on display at The Bancroft Library in 2002. Includes over 150 digital images, related texts, links to online resources about the California Grizzly Bear and a digital reproduction of "A Walking Tour of the Berkeley Bears," a campus map of bear statues and artwork found throughout the University's grounds.

George Washington Papers at the Library of Congress

Lincoln Papers
Collection of approximately 20,000 digitised images of Abraham Lincoln's papers, derived from the Library of Congress collection. The papers comprise three series of correspondence covering 1833-1916, 1858-75, and 1837-97. Two of these series include items dated later than Lincoln's assassination, including letters of condolence to his widow. Papers can be browsed or searched by keyword.

Music for the Nation: American Sheet Music 1820-1860 and 1870-1885
Contains more than 62,500 pieces of American historical sheet music made available through digitisation. Includes popular songs, operatic arias, piano music, sacred and secular choral music, solo instrumental music, method books and instructional materials, and music for band and orchestra. Collection is searchable and browsable by author, subject and title. As well as providing historical sheet music, the collection aims to document social and political attitudes of a bygone era with music of many varieties and sources, and provides numerous exhibitions and commentaries.
