- Comprehensive search project to detect extraterrestrial civilizations by listening for radio signals that are either being deliberately beamed or are inadvertently transmitted from another planet. Between 1995 and 2004, Phoenix was the successor to the ambitious NASA SETI program that was cancelled in 1993.
