American Society for Precision Engineering
A multi-disciplinary professional and technical society concerned with research and development, design, manufacture, and measurement of high accuracy components and systems. ASPE activities encompass relevant aspects of mechanical, electronic, optical and production engineering, physics, chemistry, and computer and materials science. Membership is open to anyone interested in any aspect of precision engineering.
Author: American Society for Precision Engineering
Subjects: chemistry societies, engineering design, engineering societies, manufacturing, product design
     DeweyClass: 620.0045
     Resource type: institution
Bad Human Factors Designs
Listing of products which have proven ineffective due to impractical design principles. Features a kitchen timer which cannot be set for less than fifteen minutes unless it is moved beyond this time period and then shifted backwards, yellow street lights which are easily mistaken for amber traffic signals, and top loading VCRs which cannot be fitted into standard TV and video storage units.
     Author: Darnell, Michael J.
     Subjects: product design
     DeweyClass: 670
     Resource type: documents, images
Ergonomics Society
Ergonomics is the scientific foundation, both in terms of data and methodology, for a user-centred approach to design. The Ergonomics Society is the UK authority for the registration of European ergonomists.
     Author: Ergonomics Society
     Subjects: ergonomics, product design
     DeweyClass: 620.82
     Resource type: index, institution
Industrial Technology
UK magazine for product design engineers and machine builders, covering news and information on bearings, gears, brakes, clutches, materials, drives, motors, CAD, fasteners, adhesives, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, seals, valves, pumps, PLCs, conveyors.
     Author: Industrial Technology
Subjects: computer aided design, engineering design, manufacturing, pneumatics, product design
     DeweyClass: 620
     Resource type: magazine
International Ergonomics Association
The IEA is the association of ergonomics and human factors societies around the world. Ergonomics is the scientific discipline concerned with the interaction between people and technology.
     Author: International Ergonomics Association
Subjects: ergonomics, product design, technology impact
     DeweyClass: 620.82
     Resource type: institution
Textile Institute
A worldwide association for those whose collective interests cover textile management, design, engineering, research, production, marketing, education and training. The products from these interests include fibres and other raw materials, consumer fashion articles, and engineering structures for industrial needs.
