Ancient Near East and the Mediterranean World
A product of digitisation and preservation initiatives by the Library of the University of Chicago. Provides digital access to a selection of the Library's renowned Ancient Near East and Classics Collections. Preserved materials relate to the study of the ancient Near East and cover such topics as the archaeology, art, history, language, law, and the religions of Sumer, Babylonia, Assyria, Egypt, Nubia, Persia, and other ancient peoples of Anatolia and the Fertile Crescent. Classics materials span the time from the rise of Bronze Age Aegean culture through the period in the Middle Ages and include volumes relating to the history, art and archaeology of the classical world. Also contains information on organising and coordinating large scale digitisation projects.

CAMiLEON: Creative Archiving at Michigan and Leeds: Emulating the Old on the New
Research project investigating the preservation of material no longer accessible by the technology for which it was created. The team propose the use of emulation to enable obsolete systems to be run on future unknown systems, making material accessible via their original software. Proposed strategies will comprise a preservation plan for the BBC Domesday which was originally created using the BBC Master. User evaluation and cost benefit analysis form key strands of the study.

Digital Preservation Coalition
A collaborative organisation which aims to secure the preservation of digital resources in the UK, and to promote related standards on a global scale. Provides access to a practical guide covering the management of digital resources over time and sustaining access to them. Also offers a quarterly publication jointly operated by the coalition and the Preserving Access to Digital Information (PADI) Gateway informing the community of recent developments.

Digital Preservation Coalition - The Handbook
Handbook providing an internationally authoritative and practical guide to the subject of managing digital resources over time, and the issues in sustaining access to them. The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is a collaborative organisation encompassing bodies such as the British Library, the Joint Information Systems Committee and the National Library of Australia aiming to secure the preservation of digital resources in the UK, and to promote related standards on a global scale.

Environmental Guidelines for the Storage of Paper Records
Technical report discussing environmental parameters that influence the preservation of paper-based records in libraries and archives. Storage issues addressed include temperature, relative humidity, exposure to light, gaseous contaminants, and particulates, and associated recommendations are given. An appendix provides information germane to the development of environmental guidelines for storage with a technical summary of information in the literature. A glossary is provided.

National Film Preservation Board
