Australian Oceanographic Data Centre
Australian national centre for management and processing of marine data.
     Author: Australian Oceanographic Data Centre
Subjects: australian natural resources, oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.4
     Resource type: institution
British Oceanographic Data Centre
British national data centre which provides data management support for UK marine science, maintains and develops the UK's national oceanographic database, makes high-quality oceanographic data readily available to UK research scientists, commerce and government, develops marine data products and digital atlases, and collaborates in the international exchange and management of oceanographic data. Datasets include the UK Directory of Marine Environmental Data.
     Author: British Oceanographic Data Centre
     Subjects: marine science, oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.4
     Resource type: reference data
Global Change Data and Information System
GCDIS is a cooperative activity of agencies that provides global change data to scientists and researchers, policy makers, educators, industry, and the public at large. GCDIS includes multi-disciplinary data from atmospheric science, ecology, oceanography, as well as economics and sociology.
Author: US Global Change Research Information Office
Subjects: atmospheric science, global change, oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.6
     Resource type: reference data
Global Change Master Directory
An extensive source of information about satellite and in situ Earth science data, with broad coverage of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, oceans, solid earth, and biosphere.
     Author: NASA
Subjects: climatology, global change, oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.6
     Resource type: documents, news
International Arctic Buoy Programme
Maintains a network of automatic data buoys in the Arctic Basin which monitor synoptic-scale fields of pressure, temperature, and ice motion to support real-time operations and meteorological and oceanographic research. Provides monthly buoy maps, data sets, buoy reports, and a buoy motion and ice concentration animation which uses data from 1979 to 1994. Includes browsable images and data plots with accompanying audio files and buoy diagrams.
     Author: University of Washington
     Subjects: arctic, meteorology, oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.4
Resource type: documents, images, maps, reference data
NASA SeaWIFS Project
The Sea-Viewing Wide Field-of-View Sensor Project aims to understand the earth's behaviour and evolution by looking at it from space, and to gather quantitative data on global ocean bio-optical properties. Colour satellite images of plankton blooms, chlorophyll concentrations, coral reefs, and hurricanes are available, as well as technical reports and a teacher's section.
Author: Feldman, Gene Carl, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Subjects: coral reefs, earth observation, hurricanes, oceanographic data, plankton
     DeweyClass: 551.1
     Resource type: documents, satellite images
NOAA National Oceanographic Data Centre
Large collection of publicly available oceanographic data, describing the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of the ocean water column from the sea surface to the sea floor. Includes laboratories for satellite altimetry and ocean climate.
     Author: NODC
     Subjects: oceanographic data
     DeweyClass: 551.4
     Resource type: reference data
NOAA: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
NOAA's mission is to describe and predict changes in the Earth's environment and to conserve and manage wisely the Nation's coastal and marine resources. Offers information on programmes, activities, data, opportunities and news.
     Author: NOAA
Subjects: atmospheric science, oceanographic data, oceanography research
     DeweyClass: 551.6
     Resource type: documents, news
Oceanic: Ocean Information Center
OCEANIC maintains information on the World Ocean Circulation Experiment, TOGA (Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment), research ship information and schedules, and other oceanographic information sources.

     DeweyClass: 551.4
     Resource type: reference data
Project National Oceanographic Partnership Program Drifters
Project which uses drifting buoys to track ocean currents and provide near real time flow data updates. Includes a deployment log, ocean images and data products such as trajectories and analyses of drifting buoys, drifter maps and reports, annual mean velocity estimates and drifting buoy databases.
     Author: National Oceanographic Partnership Program
     Subjects: oceanographic data, oceanography research
     DeweyClass: 551.4
     Resource type: images, reference data
Tropical Atmosphere Ocean Array
Relays oceanographic and surface meteorological data in real time from 70 moorings in the Tropical Pacific Ocean. The data are then retransmittted worldwide to oceanographic and meteorological centres via the Global Telecommunication System. TAO is a major component of the global climate observing system.
