The Museum's Caird Library was founded in 1936 and houses collections covering every aspect of maritime history, the Royal and Merchant Navy, emigration, navigation, piracy, shipwrecks, biography, astronomy and horology. Specialist collections for researching family history, merchant shipping and warships are available.

National Maritime Museum: Collections Online
The National Maritime Museum is home to collections of maritime and astronomical artefacts, including the famous Harrison chronometers.
