AIP Physics News
Weekly bulletin from the American Institute of Physics reviewing the latest advances in physics. It is possible to browse subject areas from cosmology to quantum theory, past issues and also search for keywords.
     Author: American Institute of Physics
Subjects: nanotechnology, physics news, physics research, quantum physics
     DeweyClass: 530
     Resource type: magazine
Foresight Institute
Aims to guide emerging technologies to improve the human condition, focusing on nanotechnology, the ability to build materials and products with atomic precision. Offers specialist and general articles on nanotechnology, and information on news, events and publications.
     Author: Foresight Institute
     Subjects: nanotechnology
     DeweyClass: 620.5
     Resource type: institution
Institute of Physics Publishing Electronic Journals
Set of peer reviewed journals in the broad area of physics, with full text access available to members of subscribing institutions. Tables of contents and the full text of featured articles are freely available to all. The electronic journals offer full text with mathematics and graphics, and allow searching, browsing and printing. Some titles, eg Nanotechnology, offer multimedia features such as videos of molecular simulations.
Author: Institute of Physics and IOP Publishing
Subjects: electronic journal collections, gravity, materials science, nanotechnology, nonlinear science, nuclear physics, optics, particle physics, physics education, physics research, plasma physics, polymers, simulation
     DeweyClass: 530
     Resource type: journal collection
Introduction to Microengineering
Microengineering refers to the technologies and practice of making three-dimensional structures and devices with dimensions in the order of micrometers. This document introduces three of the micromachining techniques that are in use or under development: silicon micromachining, the Excimer laser and LIGA.
     Author: Banks, Danny
     Subjects: manufacturing, nanotechnology
     DeweyClass: 620.5
     Resource type: guide
Nanomedicine
Offers information on the potential of nanomedicine - the use of engineered nanodevices and nanostructures to monitor, repair, construct, or control human biological systems at a molecular level. Provides answers to frequently asked questions, technical papers on medical nanorobots and nanotechnology, and listings of nanomedicine research organisations and researchers.
     Author: Freitas, Robert
     Subjects: medical equipment, nanotechnology
     DeweyClass: 620.5
     Resource type: documents
Sandia MEMS Image Gallery
A set of images of micromachines so small that they are imperceptible to the human eye, some with gears no bigger than a grain of pollen. Many of the black and white images include dust mites or spider mites to provide a sense of scale. Also some moving images, in Quicktime format.
     Author: Sandia National Laboratories
     Subjects: nanotechnology
     DeweyClass: 620.5
Resource type: image collection, moving images
XTALENT Image Gallery
Gallery of images both of the microscopic world and macroscopic world. Includes the Nanoworld Image Galeery, which contains images taken with Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopes, and photographs from Light or Optical Microscopes. Can register to get additional features such as uploading, having a favorite list, rating pictures and posting comments etc.
Author: University of Queensland Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis
Subjects: blood, cell biology, insects, nanotechnology, plankton, plant images, yeast
     DeweyClass: 570
     Resource type: image collection
