Experience Music Project: Online exhibits investigating many musical time periods and genres. Includes audio files providing examples of movements such as Riot Grrrl, Hip Hop, and Punk. A specific artist is profiled on a weekly basis, a series of interviews are available, and special events are documented. Also contains video footage of various projects undertaken by those at 'emplive' such as touring with an Indie band, and learning how to sing in two-part harmony with Ann and Nancy Wilson.

Genres covered include blues, classical, country, folk, dance, electronic, experimental, hip hop, rap, jazz, swing, pop, reggae, ska, punk, rock, and heavy metal. MP3 is a file format which stores audio files on computer so that the file size is relatively small but the sound quality is near perfect. Typically 1 Mb is equal to one minute of music.

Collection is searchable and browsable by author, subject and title. As well as providing historical sheet music, the collection aims to document social and political attitudes of a bygone era with music of many varieties and sources, and provides numerous exhibitions and commentaries.
