- Art of the First World War
- An exhibition of 110 paintings brought together by the major history museums of Europe depicting World War I as seen by 54 painters on both sides. Hitherto overshadowed by the literary and philosophical accomplishments that arose from the trauma of war, the artists and their work are brought into context in a detailed presentation by art historian and exhibition curator Philippe Dagen, via UNESCO and partner museums throughout Europe. Users can opt for a guided tour of the exhibits or browse through the exhibition thematically. Exhibits include William Roberts' 'The First German Gas Attack at Ypres' which gives a dramatic representation of the use of toxic gases by the German forces, Felix Vallotton's 'Le plateau de Bolante' depicting the war-swept landscape of the Artois region of France, and John Nash's 'Over the Top' illustrating the attack during which the First Artist Rifles left their trenches and pushed towards Marcoing near Cambrai.
