Wikipedia is a multilingual, web-based, open access encyclopedia project. Articles provide links to guide the user to related pages offering additional information, and are written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world. In mid 2008 there were more than 10,000,000 articles in more than 250 languages. Visitors do not need specialised qualifications to contribute or edit articles. All of the text in Wikipedia, and most of the images and other content, is covered by the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL).
